About the Course

Teaching Yuan Gong and REN XUE is an extremely rewarding experience — indeed, contribution is one of the Five Treasures of Ren Xue. Many people are motivated to practice Yuan Gong and REN XUE by the desire to improve their health and wellbeing. When you teach Yuan Gong or practice Yuan Ming, you are likely to meet people with a wide range of health conditions, from fully healthy to needing more assistance.

Being able to recognize physical and/or mental health conditions that require professional medical attention and knowing how to deal with a medical situation should one occur are foundations of a safe environment for your students and clients. Knowing when to seek professional medical help and how to do so also enables you as a teacher to be in your comfort zone so you can feel more confident and relaxed. We hope this course will support your work of Du Ren, as you bring the gifts of REN XUE to the world.

This course was first presented live at the Level 5 REN XUE Teacher Training held in New Zealand in 2017. The information it contains is invaluable for a teacher at any level of training, and is also highly worthwhile rewatching if you have completed the Level 5 Training, and especially so if that training was done more than 2 years ago.

Facilitated by Jackie Blunt, this course covers:

  • why it is important to differentiate between a health condition and a Qi reaction and how to prepare for and deal with a health situation should it occur
  • physical health conditions that are important to recognize as requiring urgent medical review and treatment
  • mental health - how people function when their mental state is healthy; some types of mental health disorders and situations when other therapies are more likely to help than Qigong
  • health professionals in the REN XUE community who you can contact for advice

Time to complete: about 3 hours.

About the Instructor

Jackie Blunt, MD, is a family doctor and REN XUE teacher who loves working with these systems to help people grow and create a better life for themselves and society. In her working life, she has been a rural and urban community doctor for over 25 years, in New Zealand and overseas, a REN XUE teacher for about 15 years, and has been teaching and practicing Yuan Gong since its beginning.  She is also a parent of three happy young adults and leads a wellbeing team at a university in New Zealand.

Over the years many students and teachers have discussed a wide variety of health conditions with Jackie and asked questions in order to better understand how to work safely with REN XUE and Yuan Gong to help people improve their health. This course has grown out of these conversations and comes with the intention to support you as a REN XUE teacher to enjoy teaching and to feel safe and confident through knowing both your expertise and your limitations. Knowing what you know and what you don't know and when to refer a student to a health professional is a wonderful foundation for being calm, relaxed, and natural in your teaching, and truly helping your students benefit deeply from these transformative practices.
